Dixie's Legacy Foundation would like to announce our Rescue Spotlight winner...Gus!! Here are a few words from his new family:
"In July I found out my beloved 4 year old Rottweiler Jack was Sick. We tried everything and he didn’t make it. In September i lost my buddy, my best friend. Two weeks later we had to put asleep our other Rottweiler of 13 years Trevor. They were our family and our hearts were broken.
A week later I found out about this 4 and a half week old pitbull puppy named Gus who needed a home. We definitely weren’t ready, we weren’t trying to replace my boys but I undoubtedly was trying to fill a whole in my heart. My home wasn’t the same. Then comes along this little puppy who needed us as much as we needed him. He is now 6 months old and we can’t imagine life without him. He is full of personality, one of the most affectionate dogs we’ve ever had. He is happy when he is next to you, whether it is on the couch watching tv, or outside playing ball. Gus is so smart we have to come up with ways to trick him in training. The goal for Gus is to become a therapy dog so his love can make others smile. Rescuing Gus also rescued us and we are forever grateful."
February 19, 2019: Rescue Spotlight
Dixie's Legacy Foundation is pleased to announce our Rescue Spotlight winner... Mocha! Here are a few words from Mocha's new family:
"We adopted Mocha a few months ago. We were searching for the perfect fit for our family for a while. She came to us from the Volunteer Auxiliary for Animal Shelters. I could not have asked for a better adoption process! After a meet and greet and a home visit we knew Mocha was meant to be a part of our family. This little girl is the ultimate love bug. She loves everyone she meets and she has fit into our family perfectly. She has just the right amount of energy to keep up with 3 young kids. And also loves cuddling on the couch. She has fit so seamlessly into our family that it’s like she’s been here forever. I could not be happier with our decision to adopt her."

October 25, 2018: Rescue Spotlight

Dixie's Legacy Foundation would like to announce our November Rescue Spotlight...Bailey!!
A few words from Bailey's family:
"We adopted Bailey from a rescue in Toms River who rescued her from a high kill shelter in Georgia. We didn't get much background on her but it was easy to see she wasn't treated well by the people who had her before she was brought to the shelter. She was very timid and shy and afraid of almost everything when we first brought her home but that soon faded away after some TLC. Bailey is a very loving dog who always wants to please us. She has become my best friend and I don't remember what life was like before her."
Bailey has received a gift card for Petco from Dixie's Legacy Foundation!

​We are very excited to announce our future Rescue Spotlight program. To submit your pet, please send an e-mail to dixieslegacyfoundation@yahoo.com
including one picture and a brief story of your pet's adoption in 100 words or less. Any animal that has been adopted from a shelter, rescue group, foster group or any otherwise abused, abandoned, and/or neglected pet in New Jersey can be entered. The selected pet will receive a $10 gift certificate to Petsmart, Petco, or Pet Value.
